In his position at Broward Health, Barry directs, system-wide, all aspects of risk management and clinical quality centered care including: set, maintain, and achieve clinical quality goals; ensure leaders and medical staff are engaged in improving clinical outcomes; implement programs and initiatives to increase the clinical excellence of employees and medical staff. Identify and promote technologies meeting the strategic, tactical and daily business requirements. Maintain current standards including: core measures, AHCA, HCAHPS, AHRQ, Joint Commission, CMS Value Based Purchasing and Pay for Performance programs. Provide leadership and expertise in industry standards related to quality initiatives at the facility and physician level, including CMS STAR reporting, Leapfrog, US News & World Report, disease specific certifications and regulatory accreditation. Liaison of Regional Quality Management and Risk Management Departments for coordination, development, analysis and maintenance of quality management and peer reviews. Lead and coordinate collection of patient satisfaction data and act as a resource and consultant for patient engagement implementation techniques and strategies. Communicate satisfaction results with key stakeholders and provide expertise in patient satisfaction measurement and innovative solutions for data analysis. Provide proactive and reactive strategic leadership through the development, execution and maintenance of the continuous improvement planning process. Plan, implement, and update reporting and measurement needed, benchmark criteria; identify, interpret and capitalizes on industry, programs, trends and developments.
His professional activities include being a Member of American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) where he served as Board Treasurer June 2013- June 2017, President Elect June 2017- June 2019 and President June 2019- June 2021.
He is also a member of the National Association Healthcare Quality, the American Organization Nurse Executives, and of the Nurses on Boards Coalition.
